Cubbiebear has taken inspiration from hip-hop culture ever since a young age, but only recently has he been contributing to the Baltimore music scene – and it’s a good thing, too. Growing up, he loved to watch break-dancing, even tried it once; he was quickly laughed off the cardboard and never returned. While he never denies being affected by the events in his life both bad and worse, he was never shaped by them. Instead, he uses what he sees in life – such as ignorance, dysfunctional relationships, and the sort of unrealistic lifestyle that television and Hollywood tells us we should lust after – as an opportunity to react, to express himself in a way that sets him apart. A chronological retelling of his life won’t give you an accurate depiction of Cubbiebear; listening to his music will open a window to his mind.
